Oly Goes to Vegas

I know the scheduled trip is still a few months away, but I couldn't resist the urge to go out west and get a preview of what's to come! Actually, my wife and I already had a trip to Disneyland and Las Vegas booked before the Route 66 trip was born (or at least before I know about it). From a photographer's point of view, Vegas was overwhelming for the first time visitor. There are so many sights, that you simply don't know where to point your camera next.

This shot, however, was one that I knew I wanted from the day we arrived. If you find yourself in Vegas, and you like to take pictures, you owe it to yourself to take ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower. The views from 460 feet above the strip are amazing, and watching the Bellagio fountain show from this vantage is not to be missed!

As for the image, it was captured handheld using the E-P3 and 14-42mm kit lens. The observation deck has metal screening for safety, but they were kind enough to include little access windows for cameras. Using these windows as support for the lens, you can get away with some pretty long shutter speeds, but as usual shoot many frames so you're sure to have a sharp one when you get home...
